Excavation and Grading
At Great Plains Groundworks, we specialize in the precise excavation work that sets your project up for success from the ground up. Whether you're breaking ground on a new home, digging footings for an addition, preparing a building pad, or excavating for a pool, our team brings the hands-on expertise and attention to detail that every job demands.

Our Process
Before any digging begins, we start with a thorough review of the site plan — reading contour lines to understand existing grades, identifying high and low points, and confirming where water naturally wants to flow. We locate all utilities, establish benchmark elevations, and mark out the work area so every cut and fill is intentional from the start.
From there, we excavate to the engineered grades, shaping the land to properly drain away from structures, meet finish floor elevations, and set the stage for whatever is being built — whether that's a retaining wall, a water feature, an outbuilding, or a home. Spoil material is either redistributed on site to build grade elsewhere or removed entirely depending on the project. Once rough grading is complete, we fine-grade by hand where needed, checking slope with a laser level and grade stakes to ensure proper drainage across the entire site before any base material or construction begins.
